Sound Editorial is an editorial platform that curates music playlists and publishes editorial stories. We collect the minimum data needed to operate the site, respond to pitches, and send the optional newsletter. We do not sell your data, ever.

1. Who we are

2. What we collect

• Pitch submissions — the form fields you fill in (name, email, song link, message). Stored to review and respond.
• Newsletter — your email and language preference. Used only to send "The Dispatch" weekly. Unsubscribe anytime via the link in every email.
• Contact form — name, email, message. Used only to respond.
• Server logs — IP address, browser type, timestamps, requested URLs. Kept for up to 30 days for security and debugging.
• Anonymous analytics — aggregated page-view counts (no personal identifiers).

3. What we don't collect

• We do not collect payment information.
• We do not use third-party advertising networks or cross-site tracking.
• We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with marketers.

4. Cookies & embeds

We use a small number of first-party cookies (language preference, session security) and embed third-party players (Spotify) on playlist pages. Embedding Spotify will set Spotify's own cookies once you interact with the player. See our Cookies Policy for details.

5. How we use your data

• To respond to pitches and contact messages.
• To send the newsletter (only if you subscribed).
• To operate, secure, and improve the site.
• To comply with legal obligations (e.g., responding to lawful requests).

6. Data retention

• Pitch submissions: retained for up to 18 months for editorial archive and review consistency.
• Newsletter subscribers: retained until you unsubscribe.
• Contact messages: retained for up to 24 months.
• Server logs: retained for up to 30 days.

7. Your rights

Depending on your jurisdiction (e.g., GDPR / CCPA / Korea PIPA), you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data. To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@soundeditorial.co. We respond within 30 days.

8. Security

We use HTTPS, parameterized database queries, hashed passwords (bcrypt), and CSRF protection. No system is 100% secure — in the unlikely event of a data incident affecting your personal data, we'll notify you within 72 hours of discovery.

9. International transfers

Our servers may process data in regions outside your country. We use providers that maintain industry-standard data protection.

10. Children

Sound Editorial is not directed at children under 14. We don't knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 14.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy occasionally. Material changes will be highlighted at the top of this page for at least 30 days. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes acceptance.
