Before you pitch.
A clear look at how submissions move through our editorial desks — from form to final decision. Read this once; pitch with confidence.
From pitch to placement.
- 01Submit
One song per pitch. Use the form with a Spotify or SoundCloud link. Include label/release context and the editorial angle.
- 02Editorial review
Routed to the editor whose section best fits the genre/region. We listen end-to-end — no algorithmic shortcuts. Average review window: 3–5 business days.
- 03Decision
If selected, we'll respond with the playlist(s) we're considering and a target placement date. If not this round, we sometimes shelf for later cycles — no further action needed.
No black box.
Read before you pitch.
Multi-track submissions are paused on first read. If you want to pitch an EP, submit the strongest single first.
Spotify URI preferred. SoundCloud private links accepted for pre-release.
Pitch at least 14 days before release date for major playlists, 3 days for daily/weekly slots.
Tell us what's distinctive about the production, voice, or scene context. We don't optimize for streaming counts.
Any language. We have editors covering Korean, Japanese, English, Spanish.
Editorial doesn't accept pitches via Instagram, Twitter, or email. Use the pitch form.
Common questions.
Will I get a response if my song isn't selected?
We respond only to selected submissions. If you don't hear from us within 10 business days, consider the pitch closed. We sometimes hold tracks for later cycles, so a non-response isn't always a final no.
Can I pay for placement?
No. Sound Editorial does not accept payment for playlist placement. Any service claiming otherwise is not us.
Can I resubmit a song that was rejected?
Only if the song has been significantly revised, the artist context has materially changed (e.g., major signing), or 6+ months have passed.
Do you accept instrumental / non-vocal music?
Yes — ambient, electronic, classical, jazz. Each genre has dedicated editorial slots.
Can my label/manager submit on my behalf?
Yes. Use the "Submitted by" field to indicate the relationship. Pitches from labels go through the same editorial review.
How do I know which playlist my song fits?
Don't try to target a specific playlist. Pitch the song with editorial context — we route it internally to the right desk.
Do you cover live shows / festivals?
Limited. Editorial coverage of live music is reserved for our Reports vertical and is editor-initiated. Pitch artists, not events.
